Seng Ong Kong Deity procession captivates Kuching, A Spectacle of Unity

Today, Kuching Wayang Street came alive with tradition and devotion as thousands gathered to celebrate the birthday of Seng Ong Kong Deity at the historic Hong San Si Temple.
The procession, a cherished cultural event, radiated warmth and harmony, welcoming participants from diverse faiths and backgrounds. The presence of interfaith members portrayed the spirit of unity and solidarity that defines this annual celebration.
The ceremony was graced and officiated by Yang Berhormat YB Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, and among the esteemed dignitaries were MBKS Mayor YBhg. Dato Wee Hong Seng, UNIFOR Director YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, President of Kuching Hokkien Association and Federation of Sarawak Temple Associations YBhg. Dato Richard Wee, alongside other prominent figures.
Their collective participation highlighted the importance of interfaith collaboration in fostering understanding and harmony.
More than 200 troupes took part in the procession with around 200,000 crowd participating in the celebration as spectators and supporters.
The Seng Ong Kong Deity procession stands as a reflection of the enduring cultural heritage of Kuching, bringing communities together in a vibrant display of unity, devotion, and shared humanity.
