Today, history was etched in gold. We are profoundly honored to celebrate the Official Opening of the UNIFOR Complex, officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. This RM75 million architectural masterpiece stands as a soaring testament to Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030—a living symbol of social inclusivity, religious harmony, and the enduring spirit of Segulai Sejalai. 

​Leadership & Vision in Action

Our deepest gratitude goes our Premier and the Sarawak Government for their visionary patronage. We also extend our highest commendations to YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier and Minister In-Charge of UNIFOR. As Chairman of the Sarawak UNIFOR Charitable Trust (SUCT), his steadfast leadership—alongside the collaborative efforts of the UNIFOR team and partnering agencies—has transformed an ambitious dream into a triumphant reality for all Sarawakians.

​A Journey of Faith, Transparency, & Accountability

The highlight of the ceremony was the 15-panel LED immersive walkway on Level 1. This digital gallery showcased the vibrant tapestry of our stakeholders: Christians, Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus, Sikhs, and Baha’is. More than just an exhibition, the display served as a Social Accountability Report, detailing how UNIFOR funds have been prudently utilised since its inception in 2017 to build and upgrade houses of worship and mission schools. During the tour, the YAB Premier expressed his profound admiration for the transparency and the tangible impact these funds have had on grassroots communities.

​A Symphony of Sarawakian Culture

The atmosphere was electrified by performances that captured the spiritual heartbeat of our land:

The Rhythmic Heartbeat: 
A thunderous, synchronised drum performance by the Federation of Sarawak Temple Associations, symbolising the resilience and cultural pride UNIFOR protects.

Ethereal Grace: 
A serene Dun Huang dance by the Federation of Buddhist Associations Sarawak, reflecting the compassion and spiritual tranquility central to the faith.

​Celestial Harmony: 
A soul-stirring choir  performance by the Association of Churches in Sarawak (St. Thomas’s Cathedral and St. James choirs). Their rendition of "You Shall Be My Faithful Witnesses" echoed the mutual respect that is Sarawak’s greatest strength.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Heads of Religions, our dedicated stakeholders, and collaborative government agencies including JKR and UPPANS. A special mention to the creative designers whose LED backdrops transformed the venue into a sanctuary of light and unity.

A SACRED CONVERGENCE : BLESSING THE PATHWAY TO UNITY

This week, the UNIFOR Complex was blessed with a meaningful convergence of faith, prayer and unity.

Heads of Other Religions and representatives from various Houses of Worship gathered at the Complex for a series of dedicatory prayers, offering blessings for the building, the staff of UNIFOR and SUCT, and the upcoming Grand Official Opening.

Their presence reminded us of a beautiful truth: in moments of challenge, preparation and celebration, we stand together as one Sarawak family.

As we count down to the Grand Opening this Sunday, these prayers have laid a spiritual foundation of peace, harmony and divine guidance. More than an iconic building, the UNIFOR Complex stands as a beacon of unity, service and respect for all faith communities in Sarawak.

With hearts full of gratitude, we look forward to a smooth and meaningful Grand Opening Ceremony, entrusted to the Almighty and supported by the collective prayers of our diverse communities.

UNIFOR BLOOD DONATION DRIVE 1.0 2026: A LIFE-SAVING SUCCESS

Unity in every drop blood. UNIFOR’s Blood Donation Drive 1.0 2026 successfully marked our first blood donation campaign of the year, with an encouraging and inspiring turnout at Aeroville Mall. The programme reflected yet another meaningful milestone in UNIFOR’s ongoing mission to promote social harmony through tangible acts of community service.

Held under the leadership of Yang Berbahagia Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, together with Deputy Director Puan Caroline Chen, the drive successfully collected 104 pints of blood. This meaningful collaboration between UNIFOR, the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank, and Aeroville Mall underscored a shared commitment to public health, compassion, and social responsibility.

Since 2023, these biannual blood donation drives have stood as a testament to the Sarawakian values of care, mutual respect, and community spirit. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all donors who came forward to give the precious gift of life.

Every pint donated is more than a number. It is a gesture of hope, a lifeline for those in need, and a powerful reminder that kindness knows no race, faith, or background. Each donation truly reflects the Sarawakian spirit of unity, compassion, and togetherness.

This event once again proves that when we come together with sincere purpose, we can make a real and lasting difference in the lives of many.

ENGAGEMENT SESSION WITH BUDDHIST AND TAO (NO. 1/2026)

The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) successfully organised its third stakeholder engagement session for 2026 today, bringing together leaders from the Federation of Buddhist Associations Sarawak and the Federation of Sarawak Temple Associations. While this marks the third engagement under UNIFOR’s annual outreach programme, it is the first session this year dedicated specifically to Buddhist and Taoist leaders.

The session was chaired by Yang Berbahagia Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, and was honoured by the presence of Yang Berbahagia Datuk Tay Chin Kin, Chairman of the Federation of Buddhist Associations Sarawak, and Yang Berbahagia Dato Sri Richard Wee, President of the Federation of Sarawak Temple Associations. The session was further enriched by the participation of temple leaders, committee members, and community representatives, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration and unity.

This strategic engagement focused on strengthening partnerships between the government and religious institutions. Through direct dialogue with grassroots leaders, UNIFOR gained valuable insights into the current needs, organisational structures, and key challenges faced by Buddhist and Taoist temples across Sarawak.

A key highlight of the session was the introduction of UNIFOR’s initiative to develop a comprehensive and up-to-date database of houses of worship for other religions. This digital repository will include detailed temple profiles, registration information, and management structures, enabling more efficient coordination and enhanced information sharing.

The session also emphasised the importance of prudent fund management. UNIFOR reaffirmed that all approved assistance must be guided by the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Upholding these standards is essential to ensure sustainability and to strengthen public trust and confidence.

Moving forward, UNIFOR remains committed to supporting religious diversity and inclusivity in Sarawak. Efforts to enhance data management systems will continue, alongside encouraging active participation from all houses of worship to ensure that community voices remain at the heart of Sarawak’s development.

Bengkel Pindaan dan Penambahbaikan Garis Panduan Sedia Ada bagi Pengurusan dan Pelaksanaan Bantuan Dana kepada Rumah Ibadat Agama-agama Lain dan Sekolah Mubaligh

UNIFOR telah menganjurkan Bengkel Pindaan dan Penambahbaikan Garis Panduan Sedia Ada bagi Pengurusan dan Pelaksanaan Bantuan Dana kepada Rumah Ibadat Agama-agama Lain dan Sekolah Mubaligh 

Inisiatif ini bertujuan memperkukuh sistem penyampaian agar bantuan dapat dilaksanakan dengan lebih cekap dan berkesan, selaras dengan perkembangan semasa. Pada masa yang sama, usaha ini turut meningkatkan kerelevanan, keterangkuman serta kepekaan garis panduan terhadap keperluan sebenar di lapangan.

Penganjuran bengkel ini juga selaras dengan seruan YB Datuk Amar Setiausaha Kerajaan Sarawak untuk mengamalkan pendekatan 3R — Revisit, Rethink, Recharge dalam merancang serta menambah baik pendekatan dan langkah-langkah ke arah penyampaian perkhidmatan terbaik kepada rakyat.

Bengkel ini turut memberi penekanan kepada keperluan peruntukan berkaitan tanah perkuburan bagi agama-agama lain, termasuk penyediaan infrastruktur asas seperti laluan dalaman, pagar keselamatan, serta peralatan dan penyelenggaraan tanah perkuburan, di samping kemudahan bangunan krematorium.

Bagi Sekolah Mubaligh pula, perbincangan tertumpu kepada penyediaan peralatan yang bersesuaian bagi menyokong pembangunan minat dan keupayaan pelajar dalam bidang Sains, Teknologi, Kejuruteraan dan Matematik (STEM).

UNIFOR kekal komited dalam memastikan setiap bantuan dana yang disalurkan kepada rumah ibadat agama-agama lain dan sekolah mubaligh dilaksanakan secara telus, adil dan berakauntabiliti, serta memberi impak yang bermakna kepada masyarakat.

Majlis Perasmian Program Sarawakku Sayang 2026

YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau telah menghadiri Majlis Perasmian Program Sarawakku Sayang 2026 yang telah disempurnakan oleh YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, Premier Sarawak.

Program Sarawakku Sayang 2026 bertujuan untuk memperkukuh perpaduan dalam kalangan rakyat Sarawak yang berbilang kaum dan agama, di samping memupuk semangat cinta akan negeri. Program ini juga berperanan sebagai platform untuk menyampaikan dasar, inisiatif serta pencapaian Kerajaan Sarawak kepada masyarakat secara langsung.

Majlis Perasmian Program Sarawakku Sayang 2026 telah berlangsung dengan jayanya di Kompleks Sukan, Limbang. Majlis ini menghimpunkan pelbagai lapisan masyarakat setempat serta pemimpin-pemimpin komuniti. Antara pengisian program termasuk ucapan perasmian oleh YAB Premier Sarawak, persembahan kebudayaan, serta sesi interaksi bersama rakyat. Program ini telah berjaya mencapai matlamatnya dalam mengeratkan hubungan antara kerajaan dan rakyat serta meningkatkan semangat kebersamaan dalam kalangan masyarakat.

VISIT TO GURDWARA SAHIB KUCHING IN CONJUNCTION WITH VAISAKHI CELEBRATION

YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, together with UNIFOR team, was warmly received by YBhg. Dato Dr. Kalwinder Singh Khaira, President of the Sarawak Sikh Temple Association, along with members of the Sikh temple committee. 

Held in conjunction with the Vaisakhi celebration, the visit provided an opportunity for the UNIFOR team to experience the Sikh community’s gracious hospitality and to be hosted to a delightful vegetarian lunch.

UNIFOR has made several visits to Gurdwara Sahib Kuching, reflecting its continued commitment to close engagement and strong collaboration with the Sikh community in Sarawak.

The visit also included a site inspection of the prayer hall currently under construction, offering valuable insight into the temple’s ongoing development and future plans. 

This meaningful engagement reflects the spirit of unity, mutual respect, and cultural appreciation, while further strengthening the bonds of harmony and understanding among Sarawak’s diverse communities.
