LUNDU: The Lundu-Sematan Water Supply Project, set to commence next year, is expected to be fully completed by 2027.
Tanjong Datu State Assemblyman, Azizul Annuar Adenan, stated that the Sarawak Government, through the Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, has approved a funding allocation of RM200 million to construct a new water treatment plant in Lundu.
This was confirmed by the Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, during the winding-up speech at the recent 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly Sitting.
Azizul also explained that the Sarawak Government has allocated an additional RM779,000 to provide 917 water storage tanks to address water shortages in the constituency.
The handover of these water tanks was officiated by Azizul to the Community Leaders (KMKK) within his constituency at the Lundu District Office on Thursday.
Regarding the distribution of the water tanks, Azizul expressed hope that the KMKK would closely monitor the process to ensure that every household in need receives the tanks, allowing them to benefit from the provision until the water supply project is fully completed in 2027.
