KUCHING: Security aspects at the Sarawak-Indonesia border, particularly at the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex, need to be improved.
Tebedu Assemblyman, Dr. Simon Sinang Bada said no significant changes can be seen although RM100 million has been allocated to upgrade this ICQS in 2022.
"Although RM100 million has been allocated to upgrade the ICQS in 2022, so far no significant changes have been seen," he said.
He said this when debating the Supply Bill (2025), 2024 during the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly Sitting on Thursday.
In this regard, Dr. Simon reminded the Federal Government not to 'pretend to forget' the promise of an additional allocation of RM1 billion as announced by Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in January 2023 for the purpose of upgrading the state's border security. -UKASnews
