LIMBANG: The Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) has intensified its support for kidney patients by providing crucial medical aid and donating a hemodialysis machine to Limbang Hospital.
Its Minister, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah highlighted that the new machine would increase Limbang Hospital’s capacity to serve the rising number of patients requiring dialysis.
“Demand for hemodialysis machines is constantly growing.
“Through the BKPBP programme, we’re ensuring patients across Sarawak, including those in Limbang, receive the medical support they need,” she said.
She said this during her speech at the Hemodialysis Machine Handover Ceremony at Limbang Division Health Office on Monday.
Previously, the hospital operated with only four machines, and it now has 12 machines in the Hemodialysis Unit, along with one machine for the Intensive Care Unit.
To date, the state has spent approximately RM9.9 million on the BKPBP programme, supporting nearly 600 patients since its inception.
The state’s commitment to expanding access includes the purchase of 24 hemodialysis machines this year, valued at nearly RM1 million in total, for distribution across hospitals, health clinics, and the Sarawak Heart Centre.
Also present were the Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, and others. -UKASnews
