KUCHING: The Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) has introduced three vending machines under the Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR)-Inisiatif Usahawan Makanan programme.
This initiative aims to help low-income B40 households by providing entrepreneurial opportunities through food vending machines.
The vending machines, which are part of the Ministry of Economy’s broader IPR programme, come with a two-year rental subsidy that allows participants to operate them without upfront costs, providing B40 entrepreneurs with an opportunity to build sustainable businesses.
Vending machines located in high-traffic areas like UiTM Kota Samarahan, Sarawak General Hospital and LCDA Tower offer busy individuals freshly prepared meals at an affordable price of RM7.
Chief Executive Officer of RECODA, Datuk Ismawi Ismuni in a statement today expressed confidence in the programme’s success and encouraged participants to maintain food quality and hygiene.
He highlighted that the skills and opportunities offered by IPR INSAN will help participants achieve long-term success.
Participants like Siti Hajar Adam, stationed at LCDA Tower, and Dahlia Su’ut, whose machine is at Sarawak General Hospital, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasising how the programme has equipped them with valuable knowledge and confidence to grow their businesses.
RECODA also runs other socio-economic programmes, such as IPR INTAN for agricultural entrepreneurs, to uplift communities and reduce poverty across Sarawak. These initiatives align with the government’s efforts to promote inclusive economic growth and create. -UKASnews
