LAWAS: The new Lawas Hospital, set to be completed by June 2025, is expected to provide enhanced healthcare services for the local community.
Deputy Minister of Health, Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni said the construction progress has reached 84.66 per cent and is on schedule.
"I am satisfied with the progress of this project, and it is hoped that the hospital will be completed by June 2025.
"This is because the Ministry of Health (MOH) needs to prepare on the aspects of human resource such as the number of doctors, medical assistants, and also for the Lawas District Health Clinic which is still under construction," he said when met by reporters during his working visit to Lawas Hospital on Thursday.
Dato Lukanisman explained that the Kuala Lawas Clinic will also be rebuilt to improve healthcare access for the surrounding population.
He expressed his appreciation to the contractors, particularly in the construction of Lawas District Hospital, for carrying out the project according to schedule.
Despite challenges such as labour shortages and transportation costs for raw materials being 28 per cent higher compared to other areas in Sarawak, Dato Lukanisman said the project is progressing smoothly.
Also present were Lawas Member of Parliament, Dato Henry Sum Agong, and the Sarawak State Deputy Director of Health (Public Health), Dr Rohani Mat Bah. -UKASnews
