BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 125 heads of departments from various departments, agencies and statutory bodies are currently attending the One Team Retreat for Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) held at a leading hotel here, from October 1 to 3.
With the theme ‘Project Management’, Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation), Datu Hii Chang Kee said the objectives of the programme are for the participants to share insights, exchanges ideas, form collaboration, and also to revisit, rethink and recharge.
Other than that, the retreat also serves as an avenue for them to align strategies, strengthen bonds, anticipate future needs, and harness cooperation among one another.
Datu Hii said it is important that the rakyat expectations are duly met by the SCS as the implementation of projects are meant to uplift their living standards.
"This is in line with the three pillars of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, namely economic prosperity, social inclusivity and environmental sustainability,” he said when speaking at the retreat today.
Among those present were Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Attorney General, Datu Saferi Ali, Sarawak State Financial Secretary, Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Sarawak Deputy State Secretaries, Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel (Economic Planning and Development) and Datu Buckland Bangik (Administration), and Director of the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit who is also head of the main secretariat, Superi Awang Said.
Meanwhile, Datu Hii also advised the participants to take full advantage of the session and to be actively involved in the discussions and activities held during the three-day programme.
Today, there are five group paper presentations, with the first paper being ‘Budget and Procurement’ by Director of Budget at the Sarawak State Financial Secretary Office, Datin Dayang Ernie Awang Hashim, followed by ‘Pre-Contract Stage (Planning Design and Siting, and Tender and Award)’ by Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datu Abdullah Julaihi.
The other papers are ‘Implementation and Procurement’ by Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datu Chiew Chee Yau, ‘Post Project Implementation (Maintenance)’ by Director of the Administration Unit, Datu Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin, and ‘Management of Utilities under Projects’ by Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, Jafri Lias.
Earlier, the retreat began with a morning exercise involving all participants, aimed at refreshing the mind and body, fostering teamwork, and enhancing interaction among the members of SCS.
Tomorrow evening, the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg will be the guest of honour at a dinner reception followed by the presentation of the retreat outcome by Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar to the Sarawak Premier. -UKASnews
