KUCHING: The third day of the Para Malaysia Games (Para SUKMA) 2024 saw the home contingent successfully reap eight more gold medals for various athletics events held at the Sarawak Stadium, Petra Jaya on Wednesday.
In the morning, Sarawak started on the right foot by bringing home a gold through men's javelin F55 athlete, Jamal Nasir Zulkiplis who also set a new record.
His throw of 21.09 metres surpassed the old record held by Melaka athlete, Mohd Shaari Mohd Jaafar with a distance of 20.97 metres.
The Sarawak contingent became more competitive in the afternoon as they managed to win seven more gold medals.
The athletes who contributed to the wins were Nur Farhani Kudus for the women's 200 metres T46/T47 with a time of 30.94 seconds, Siti Zubaidah Puini for the women's discus throw F12/F13 with a distance of 19 metres, and Catalina Sunti David Diok for the women's discus throw F11 with a throw as far as 15.77 metres.
Additionally, Norizalina Kasim for the women's discus throw F37 with a throw of 12.48 metres, Noshazwani Maisara Marzuki for the women's 200 metre T37 with a time of 37.70 seconds, Filemon Lirong Dionisus for the men's 200 metre T11 with a time of 26.65 seconds, and Jennyla Kueh for women's shot put F55/F56/F57 with a throw of 4.67 metres. -UKASnews
