BINTULU: The construction of the 1.2-kilometre Bintulu-Jepak Bridge, which is set to become an iconic landmark in Bintulu, is expected to be fully completed by February 2025.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that once completed, the bridge will significantly ease the journey of the public between the town centre and Jepak, as well as provide better access to Bintulu Airport and other nearby areas.
He noted that the completion of this bridge will also fulfil the long-awaited dream of the Sarawak government, particularly for the people of Bintulu who have been eagerly anticipating this crucial infrastructure project.
"This clearly demonstrates the government's commitment in implementing development projects that have a positive impact on the state's growth,” he said.
He spoke at a press conference following a working visit to the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge construction site on Sunday.
He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the contractors for their dedication and hard work in pushing forward with the project, despite initial delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the visit, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah received updates from the contractors who confirmed that the bridge's construction is progressing smoothly and remains on schedule.
He was accompanied by Sarawak Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Dato Majang Renggi, Tanjung Batu Assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Jepak Assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, Bintulu Division Resident, Nyurak Keti, Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Director, Ir Dr Cassidy Morris, and others. -UKASnews
