PULAU BRUIT: The week-long Pulau Bruit Festival 2024 concluded on Sunday with a closing ceremony officiated by Sarawak Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol.

Around 5,000 residents from Pulau Bruit and the surrounding areas gathered at the Semop Rural Growth Centre (RGC) to join the celebration.

In his speech, Datuk Abdullah acknowledged that this year’s festival boosted the local economy by involving local entrepreneurs in sales exhibitions and business activities.

He mentioned that during the last three days of the event, participating traders managed to record sales amounting to RM200,000.

This figure, he said, clearly shows the success of this annual event, which not only aims to strengthen community bonds but also provides a boost to small businesses.

With the positive response, the Semop Assemblyman is confident that this festival will continue to be a major attraction, bringing the community closer while also attracting investors and visitors from outside the area, thus further enhancing the economic development of Pulau Bruit.

The closing ceremony of the Pulau Bruit Festival 2024 was enlivened by cultural performances from the Seri Tandi group, including songs by famous artists Bob Yusuf, Ir Radzi, Fyza Busman, and several local performers.

Adding to the excitement, visitors also had the chance to win various lucky draw prizes, including electrical appliances, smartphones, laptops, bicycles, and a motorcycle as the grand prize.

Also present were Daro District Officer, Zul Usup, Melanau Community Leader, Pemanca Bujang Razeli, and local leaders Penghulu Suib Basnu, Penghulu Khatib and Penghulu Wahab Gelugo.

With a Mini Agrofest theme, Pulau Bruit Festival 2024 highlighted the sale of agricultural and fishing products, including local goods such as smoked Lumek fish and Sesar Unjur.

In addition, a variety of exciting activities were held, covering sports, culture, education, and entrepreneurship. -UKASnews
