PUSA: The Tandang Sari Regatta (RTS) is held with the aspiration to celebrate the rich cultural, historical, and artistic diversity of the Pusa District as well as the Maludam Subdistrict.
According to Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, various events had been lined up in line with the theme of RTS 2024, ‘We Are One’.
He is confident that the theme inspires local leaders especially elected representatives to remain committed in strengthening ties among the different ethnic groups to foster unity in diversity within the local community.
“With regards to this event, the Sarawak Government is focused on improving people's lives and accelerating development, especially in coastal areas.
“The government is also finalising a comprehensive development plan for Pusa District, using its natural resources and urban development efforts,” he said.
He said this in his text of speech read by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during the opening ceremony of Tandang Sari Regatta 2024 at Dataran Tandang Sari here, on Saturday.
RTS 2024 featured 21 participating teams, with 17 qualifying events and a marathon held throughout the event.
Various activities were also held, including traditional sports, performances, and government exhibitions.
Also present were Member of Parliament for Batang Lupar, Mohammad Shafizan Kepli, Beting Maro Assemblyman, Razaili Gapor, Resident of Betong Division, Richard Michael Abunawas, and Acting Pusa District Officer, Jamain Wahab. -UKASnews
