KOTA SAMARAHAN: The screening of the video 'Tuanku Payung Mahkota' was a special feature during the Tea Reception held in conjunction with the Official Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the Sarawak state level 2024.
The special video, produced by the Sarawak Broadcasting Department (RTM), was shown on the main screen at DeTAR PUTRA, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), on Saturday.
It highlighted significant moments in the life of Sultan Ibrahim, including his birth on 22 November 1958 and his marriage to Raja Permaisuri Agong, Raja Zarith Sofiah, on 22 September 1982.
The six-minute video also featured the proclamation of Sultan Ibrahim as the Sultan of Johor on 23 January 2010, the swearing-in and signing of the Oath of Office as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 31 January this year, and the official installation ceremony at Istana Negara on 20 July 2024.
The event, attended by over 500 guests, was graced by the presence of the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also in attendance were Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, along with his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma'ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, who was also the Minister-in-Charge of the celebration, Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Chairman of Sarawak Information System Sdn Bhd (SAINS) Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam, as well as several Deputy Ministers and other dignitaries.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthem 'Ibu Pertiwiku', followed by a welcoming dance performed by Petra Dancers under the supervision of the Sarawak Arts Council (MSS), and a prayer led by the Chief Imam of Sarawak, Dato' Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
The event continued with a ceremonial cutting of the yellow glutinous rice by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and his wife, followed by the screening of a special music video featuring songs performed by Bob Yusuf and Camelia.
As the guests were served their meals, they were also entertained with musical performances by guest singers Firdaus Materang, Hijrah Yahya, and Valerie Thiam Mei Lee, accompanied by musicians from the Sarawak Arts Council.
For the record, Kota Samarahan hosted the Official Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Sarawak state level over four days, from 5 to 8 September 2024. Key events included the Raja Kita Exhibition at Summer Mall, Kota Samarahan, the Interfaith Thanksgiving Ceremony at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan, and the Thanksgiving Ceremony at Masjid Al-Muttaqin Kota Samarahan.-UKASnews
