KUCHING: Nine trainees from the Jepak Constituency will participate in the Youth Skills Competency Training Programme in the Mechanical and Electrical field, with certification in Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation programme, at the Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) Sarawak.

The programme aims to develop local youth skills in the construction sector, with a long-term goal of supporting economic growth in the Jepak area and eventually Bintulu.

Four students are funded by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), while the remaining five are sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD).

The Jepak DUN Service Centre also assists by providing allowances to the students.

Jepak Assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee stated that the selection of courses or certifications is intended to ensure that trainees receive training that will offer significant returns upon completion.

“These nine students will be pioneers, becoming ambassadors in Jepak to demonstrate that what they gain from ABM can have a high impact not only on themselves but also on their families,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the handover ceremony for DUN N.67 Jepak Trainees held at the CIDB Complex on Monday.

He added that other certifications will also be offered based on the specialisation or certifications provided by ABM Sarawak and CIDB.

He explained that there are still many youths interested in the Youth Skills Competency Training Programme, but some desired certifications are not yet available.

He encouraged that many more opportunities will be provided by ABM Sarawak.

Iskandar mentioned that the selection of students from Jepak Constituency was based on B40 students, with their names, details, and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results undergoing various screenings before being forwarded to ABM Sarawak for acceptance.

Also present were the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ABM Sarawak, Abdul Rahman Ahmad, and the Director of CIDB Sarawak, Rosmen Ag. Hassan. -UKASnews
