aKUCHING: Leading engineering company, Samsung E&A Korea and Malaysia paid a courtesy call on the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg in his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Monday.
The visit was also attended by representatives from Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), Lotte Chemical Corporation, and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Energy Malaysia.
Also present were Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, and SEDC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Dato Husain.
Samsung E&A's Executive Vice President and Head of Sustainable Project Development, Sean Chung said the main purpose of the courtesy call was to inform Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari about the H2biscus Project which produces clean hydrogen through renewable energy in Sarawak.
According to Chung, part of the clean hydrogen produced will be used locally in Sarawak while the rest will be converted into ammonia and brought to South Korea for various uses.
"This project is an important effort in the production of green hydrogen in Sarawak which will be supplied to Korea to generate green power.
"This effort aims to reduce the use of fossil fuels in Korea, in line with our efforts to achieve clean energy targets and reduce carbon footprint,” he said when met by the media after the visit.
Chung added that the H2biscus project can not only benefit environmental sustainability but also open up new economic opportunities in Sarawak and South Korea. -UKASnews
