39th National Chinese Cultural Torch Relay A Celebration Of Unity In Sarawak

BINTANGOR: The 39th National Chinese Cultural Torch Relay plays a crucial role in unity for the state, enhancing the significance of cultural identity, and promoting intercultural exchange.

Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said that the event symbolises the practice of cultural heritage, making it essential for everyone to join hands in lighting the torch and spreading hope.

At the same time, it is important to promote Chinese culture and its core values, passing this heritage to future generations.

More than 200 participants representing Chinese associations under the Meradong District Chinese Federation joined the relay.

The torch is expected to arrive in Kuching on September 13, with the festival culminating in a grand cultural performance at Kuching Waterfront on September 15.

Themed "Coexistence of Diverse Cultures Driving National Prosperity," the relay emphasises cultural heritage and the pursuit of multicultural coexistence.

This torch relay is not just a cultural event but it is a celebration of unity and friendship.

Also present were representative of Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Sustainability, Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Pemanca Chan Phan Chan, Chairman of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia, Tan Sri Goh Tian Chuan, Chairman of the Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations, Dato Richard Wee and Chairman of the Sarikei Division Chinese Association, Gung Chiu Kion.-UKASnews
