KUCHING: Sarawak Women’s Football team is ready to make an impact at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024.

According to their coach, Sufian Ibrahim, the team is aiming to progress further in the competition.

“Our main focus is getting through the group stage. If we succeed, our next target is the semi-finals, and we’ll adjust our strategy as we go,” Sufian said when met during a training session at the Stadium Negeri on Tuesday.

Though the team was only formed in early 2024, Sufian noted that they have made great progress in a short period, being tested in several friendly matches and gaining valuable experience.

"We’ve played in exposure games in Sabah, Selangor, and most recently in Thailand, and the players have improved significantly,” he said.

The team will face Pahang again on Friday in what could be a crucial game for their advancement.

"I hope all the players are ready for the first match,”he said, expressing confidence in his team’s preparation.
