370 Projects Benefitting 10 Constituencies Approved Under GKCDA

LUNDU: The Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has approved 370 projects that will benefit 10 state constituencies.

Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said, this project has been approved under the allocation provided by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, amounting to RM1.5 billion.

“Among the 370 projects, seven have been handed over to contractors, 11 have been put out for tender, 84 are set for tendering, and the other 268 are in the planning phase, covering different stages like appointing consultants and preparing bills of quantities,” he noted.

He made this statement during the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrading of village roads in the Opar constituency, part of the GKCDA project, at the Kampung Serayan Baru Community Hall in Lundu on Saturday.

Furthermore, the project’s implementation in this area is community focused, with the goal of improving the quality of life for residents, aligning with GKCDA’s tagline, “Development for the People.

In addition, the Chairman of the GKCDA Steering Committee also kicked off the first GKCDA project, a Village Road Upgrade for the Opar area, with a budget of RM9.68 million.

Opar Assemblyman, Billy Sujang remarked that this occasion is deeply meaningful, as it could drive progress in the Opar region and help make the community’s aspirations a reality.

He noted that the RM9.68 million project to upgrade village roads will benefit 1,815 homes in 50 villages within the Lundu district.

In the Opar constituency, within the Bau district, the project is still pending tender, which is expected to occur shortly.

Billy further mentioned that besides the road improvement project in the village, a variety of other projects will be implemented with the overall cost reaching nearly RM144.93 million from GKCDA’s budget. -UKASnews
