KUCHING: With just 15 days to go before the start of the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024, preparations are in full swing at all sports venues involved.
 
In particular, the Sarawak Stadium at Petra Jaya, which will serve as the main venue and host of the opening ceremony, is being meticulously prepared to welcome over 10,000 athletes and officials.
 
In addition, the stadium will also host the athletics events.
 
To ensure the smooth progress of preparations, Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah conducted a visit to the venue on Thursday evening.
 
Accompanying him were Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Secretariat, Datu Hii Chang Kee, CEO of the Sarawak Sports Corporation, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, CEO of the Sarawak Arts Council, Dayang Mariana Abang Bolhassan, along with other representatives from the Working Committee.
 
Dato Sri Abdul Karim spent about an hour inspecting the existing and upgraded facilities at Sarawak Stadium.
 
Meanwhile, Sarawak as the host will continue to monitor the safety levels at all venues across nine divisions of the state to ensure the safety of athletes, thereby maintaining the positive image of SUKMA this time. -UKASnews
