KUALA LUMPUR: The Regional Corridor Development Agency (RECODA) is highlighting Sarawak’s iconic Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) at the Selangor Investment Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) 2024.

RECODA Chief Executive Officer, Datu Ismawi Ismuni, attended the launch of the expo.

In a media statement, he highlighted RECODA’s shift from participating in the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) to targeting the right investors at SPARK 2024 to choose Samalaju Industrial Park as their preferred investment destination.

“Our participation in SPARK 2024 underscores our commitment to showcasing the vast potential of the Samalaju Industrial Park. This industrial hub is pivotal to Sarawak’s economic landscape, offering immense opportunities for investors and manufacturers. We aim to forge new partnerships and demonstrate the strategic advantages that Samalaju Industrial Park presents to the global investment community,” said Datu Ismawi.

The park is emphasised for its role in attracting global investors through the implementation of basic infrastructure and a conducive industrial ecosystem.

Located in Bintulu, Samalaju Industrial Park is a premier industrial hub designed to attract heavy and energy-intensive industries.

The park offers a power source from renewable energy generated by the Bakun Dam, situated in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) region.

Since its establishment under SCORE in 2008, Samalaju Industrial Park has garnered significant private investment, with approved investments totalling RM56.67 billion.

The park hosts 14 esteemed investors, including Wenan Steel (M) Sdn Bhd, OCIKumho Sdn Bhd, and LONGi Malaysia, all of which are currently undergoing site construction.

Besides SIP, RECODA is spotlighting major projects such as the Northern Coastal Highway, the New Lawas Deep Water Port, Lawas New Airport, the Integrated Highland Agriculture Station (IHAS) Masterplan, and the Collection Processing & Packaging Centre (CPPC) Project in Spaoh, Betong, and Sungai Baji, Sarikei.

Datu Ismawi also promoted the Border Development Project, which includes road access to Long Banga, Bario, and Ba’kelalan.

He mentioned the construction of the CIQ nearby, which will facilitate cross-border trade between Sarawak and Indonesia through Nusantara.

At SPARK 2024, RECODA is highlighting socio-economic programmes such as the Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) 2022-2026, COMMUNITY@SCORE, and EMPLOY@SCORE.

These programmes aim to improve income generation and livelihoods of poor communities in SCORE, alongside government initiatives like Initiative Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR) and Basmi Miskin Tegar (BMT). -UKASnews
