KUCHING: Saudi Arabia-based company, ACWA Power, and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation Energy (SEDCE) are collaborating to develop the hydrogen and renewable energy industry in Sarawak.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SEDCE, Robert Hardin said this collaboration will leverage the expertise of both parties in sustainable energy solutions, strengthening Sarawak's position as a leader in the new energy sector in the region.
"Recently in June, we signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a project for producing green hydrogen using captive renewable energy sources.
"Today's courtesy call is to inform the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, about the progress we have made so far and to discuss the next steps we need to take moving forward," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after paying a courtesy call on the Sarawak Premier Power at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, on Wednesday.
During the courtesy call, ACWA Power's Chief Investment Officer, Thomas Brostrom, expressed hope for collaboration with SEDCE to contribute ACWA Power's best experience to Sarawak's strategic roadmap.
"This collaboration highlights the profound impact of partnering with industry players who share a vision and commitment to providing affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy," he said.
Also present were SEDC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Dato Husain, ACWA Power Regional Vice President, Salman Baray, Business Advisor, Songyi Koo, and Country Director, Mathew Chandapillai. -UKASnews
