PAKAN: The Sarawak Government continues to be committed to strengthening the people's land ownership rights through the implementation of individual lot measurements under the Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land Measurement Programme implemented by the Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS).
This programme is implemented based on approved applications and areas that have been measured perimeter and gazetted under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code (KTN) and also requires full readiness and cooperation from the NCR land claimants involved.
According to Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the government is always striving to ensure that the NCR land measurement process is implemented comprehensively in all divisions and areas in Sarawak, involving all natives who have legal customary rights to their land.
"As long as there is valid and legally valid evidence that the land is NCR land, the government will continue to ensure that the people's rights are protected through a transparent measurement and gazetting process," he said.
He said this when speaking at the Handing Over of Land Titles Ceremony under Section 18 of the KTN for the Jalan Pakan–Sesco/Pakan–Entabai, Sarikei area held at Rumah Jetphare Anak Empali, here, on Thursday.
At the ceremony, a total of 112 land title deeds were handed over to 90 eligible recipients.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Pakan Assemblyman, Tan Sri Dato Sri William Mawan Ikom, Sarikei Division Deputy Resident, Badjuri Bidin and JTS Assistant Director, Mohamad Razali Arshad.
Since the implementation of the first stage of the NCR survey in 2010 until 30 September 2025, JTS has successfully measured an area of 1,217,766 hectares (3.009 million acres) in the entire state.
Of this amount, 938,342 hectares (2.3 million acres) have been gazetted under Section 6 of the KTN.
To date, 105,344 individual lots involving an area of 125,703 hectares (310,618 acres) have been successfully surveyed.
Of this amount, 34,122 lots involving an area of 47,443 hectares (117,234 acres) have been issued land title deeds under Section 18 of the KTN.
The Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development also called on all NCR land claimants to continue to fully cooperate with the JTS to ensure that the survey process runs smoothly.
“The cooperation of landowners in identifying boundaries, ensuring that the land is free from disputes and being present during the survey work is very important to smooth the process of gazetting and issuing individual title deeds,” he stressed. -UKASnews
