DALAT: A total of 39 units of Spektra Permata Houses were built to help low-income groups here have comfortable homes.
It was developed on an 800 square foot land with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a car porch designed with a modern and practical concept.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that so far, 30 units have been completed, and from that number, 20 selected recipients received the keys to their respective houses at the ceremony.
“The majority of the recipients are from the local Melanau community with an average household income of around RM4,000 per month,” she said during her speech at the key handover ceremony, here, on Thursday.
The Dalat Assemblywoman added that houses under this programme are sold at prices ranging from RM90,000 to RM160,000, with monthly payments as low as RM300 to RM350.
“The financing is provided by Mutiara Mortgage & Credit Sdn Bhd, while the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) bears the initial payment of the land premium which will be re-charged to the owner for a period of 25 years with a low interest rate of three per cent,” she explained.
It is understood that all house recipients are also eligible to enjoy benefits under the Housing Deposit Assistance and Refund Scheme (HDRAS) worth RM10,000 each, as part of the state government’s initiative to help the B40 and M40 groups own their first home.
Meanwhile, Balingian Assemblyman and HDC Chairman, Abdul Yakub Arbi said a total of 3,158 units of Spektra Permata Houses are planned to be built throughout Sarawak ahead of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), with 1,586 units completed so far.
“In Mukah Division alone, 103 units have been completed while another 73 units are expected to be completed by RMK-13,” he said.
He added that projects like this do not just provide housing, but also help build a more prosperous community and future.
