AMSTERDAM: Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) and the Sarawak Sabah Link Road Phase 2 (SSLR2) have received international recognition for sustainable infrastructure project delivery by winning the prestigious Bentley’s 2025 Going Digital Award in the Roads and Highways category.
According to a statement, Bentley’s Going Digital Awards celebrate the most extraordinary infrastructure projects and achievements of the people behind them in advancing infrastructure through digital innovation for a better quality of life.
“Sarawak JKR Director, Datu Dr. Cassidy Morris, received the prestigious 2025 Going Digital Award in Amsterdam on 16 October 2025 after presenting to an independent international panel of judges on how digital innovation is used to transform project delivery and asset performance on the SSLR2 project,” it said on Friday.
According to Datu Dr. Cassidy, Sarawak JKR is proud to showcase the digital innovation used in sustainable project delivery of infrastructure.
“Particularly for the SSLR2 project, the nature of the project and environment in the hilly terrain of northern Sarawak necessitates sustainable project delivery.
“We highlighted to the judges how we are implementing comprehensive digitalisation, innovative applications, with sustainable outcomes.
“Beyond the SSLR2 project, Sarawak JKR plays a big part in raising the benchmark on sustainable infrastructure project delivery through leading in policy and implementation for projects in Sarawak, and Malaysia,” he said.
JKR Sarawak beat two other finalists in the Roads and Highways category - Arcadis (Australia) for the Warringah Freeway Upgrade and PowerChina ZhongNan Engineering Corporation Ltd. (China) for the Ecological Highway from Detian Transnational Waterfall to Shuolong Border.
Nearly 250 nominations from 47 countries were submitted for this year’s prestigious 2025 Going Digital Awards, organised by renowned Bentley Systems infrastructure engineering software company.
