KUCHING: Sarawak has strengthened its integrity agenda through various measures including the launch of the final phase of the Community Leadership Integrity Module (MIKM) Level 3 and the establishment of the Cabinet Special Committee (CABCOM).

Developed in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) since 2023, the MIKM focuses on conflict management, anti-corruption measures at the grassroots, and moral resilience.

According to Acting Sarawak Secretary, Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, the module equips community leaders with practical training to lead fairly, manage allocations responsibly, and handle complaints without bias.

“With this module, community leaders are not only trained to lead with fairness and transparency but are also equipped with the skills to identify, assess, and address integrity issues on the ground,” he said during the Sarawak Integrity Day 2025 held here, on Thursday.

Then event was graced by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Meanwhile, he said the state government also established CABCOM to review the financial reports and annual budgets of the State Statutory Bodies and Local Authorities (PBTs).

Chaired by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, the committee ensures that all proposals comply with regulations and uphold accountability.

“Every financial statement and annual budget of Statutory Bodies and PBTs must first be reviewed by this committee before being tabled at the Sarawak Cabinet.

“This process ensures that every proposal adheres to regulations while upholding the principles of integrity and responsibility,” Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah explained.

In line with this, he said the CABCOM Special Award 2025 was introduced for the first time to recognise statutory bodies and local authorities that excel in financial management. -UKASnews
