KUCHING: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg received a courtesy visit from LONGi Malaysia Sdn Bhd at the Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here, on Monday.
The visit was led by LONGi Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Li Zhenguo to strengthen strategic relations with the Sarawak Government and discuss the future direction of the renewable energy company's operations in Malaysia.
Li, when met by the media, said that the meeting also provided an opportunity to align LONGi's aspiration to establish Malaysia not just a production hub, but also a global innovation hub.
“One of our key aspirations is to make LONGi’s business in Malaysia not just a manufacturing hub, but also an innovation hub.
“As the founder and Chief Technology Officer of LONGi, I am very committed to this aspiration and am here in Kuching to align this aspiration with the Sarawak Premier,” he said.
Meanwhile, Li also expressed pride in LONGi's strong growth since it first set foot in Sarawak a decade ago.
He stressed that LONGi's success in Kuching was largely driven by the state government's stable governance and the support of a talented local workforce.
According to him, although LONGi has faced challenges due to geopolitical changes and US policies in recent years, the company remains committed to building a future with Malaysia.
He also shared that LONGi is undergoing restructuring of its operations in Malaysia to be more resilient, comply with international standards and to remain competitive in the global market, including the US.
