Batang Lingga Bridge To Be Completed In September

LINGGA: Construction of the Batang Lingga Bridge is now 99 per cent complete and is expected to be fully completed this September.

Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo said road construction works from the Batang Lupar Bridge to the Lingga Bridge and onwards to the Batang Lupar 2 Bridge in Sri Aman are currently underway.

According to him, the stretch from the Lingga Bridge to the Batang Lupar 2 Bridge covers approximately 35 kilometres, while the stretch from the Batang Lupar Bridge to the Lingga Bridge measures 28 kilometres.

Additionally, he said Jalan Sebuyau-Lingga is expected to be completed in December 2027.

“This entire project is part of the Second Trunk Road network which starts from the Sejingkat Bridge to the Betong/Lidong Junction.

“Once completed, it will shorten travel distance and improve traffic flow,” he said during a working visit to the Lingga Bridge project site, here on Tuesday.

Datuk Ir. Aidel also shared plans for the construction of several new bridges, including the Batang Sadong 2 Bridge which will connect the two-way route from the Batang Lupar Bridge to the Batang Sadong Bridge, in addition to several iconic bridges at strategic locations throughout Sarawak.

Earlier, he received a briefing on the project status at the Public Works Department (JKR) Sri Aman Division Office, where he called for projects that have yet to commence to be expedited for the benefit of the local community.

Also present were Engkilili Assemblyman, Dr. Johnical Rayong, JKR Sri Aman Divisional Engineer, Lenny Busuri, Lingga District Officer, Frank Lani, as well as JKR Sri Aman Divisional officers. -UKASnews
