MEITD Outreach Programme 2025 Strengthens Access To Education In Lubok Antu

ENGKELILI: The Ministry for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) in collaboration with SMK Engkilili organised the MEITD Outreach Programme 2025 which took place at the school hall on Tuesday.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Engkilili Assemblyman, Dr. Johnical Rayong Ngipa, who represented the MEITD Minister, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

In his speech, Dato Sri Roland Sagah emphasised the importance of early exposure to educational opportunities, skills training and talent development, especially for students in rural areas.

"The MEITD Outreach Programme is an annual initiative of the ministry to travel to rural and interior areas throughout Sarawak, ensuring inclusive and face-to-face access to educational information," he said in the text of speech read by Dr. Johnical.

He said that among the initiatives highlighted include the Sarawak Education Enhancement Programme (SEEP), Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES), book and computer voucher assistance, and digital education scholarships.

Also emphasised is Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), digital skills and the field of technopreneurship as a career path for young people.

Various educational institutions such as Yayasan Sarawak, Sarawak Skills and Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) also participated in the programme, organising interactive activities such as the STEM Challenge to foster skills necessary for the 21st century. -UKASnews
