ENGKILILI: Tender for the construction of the RM28.5 million Ulu Skrang and Lubok Antu Road Phase 2 would be called for in August this year.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is also the Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development announced that the construction of the RM228 million Sebeliau-Bilararap Road is now at tender evaluation process.
"The construction of the concrete bridge crossing the Batang Ai at Engkilili town and costing RM16.520 million is in the design process and awaiting SPA approval.
"And these are among the main federal funded projects," he said at the launching of the inaugural Lubok Antu Carnival at Dataran Rusa on Saturday.
He added under the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA), the design for construction of the Sebeliau-Ng Entalau Road costing RM68 million was now ready.
While he said the tender for its construction was being called for now.
He also noted that tender for the construction of the Sri Aman/ Lifong Road costing RM63 million was targetted to be called for in the third quarter of this year.
On development in the Engkilili parliamentary constituency, he said the voters had made the right choice in voting for Roy Angau Gingkoi as Member of Parliament for Lubok Antu, and a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).
He said both the Federal and State governments had now either planned for or were implementing projects costing a total of RM921 million.
"The people here had Roy and the GPS government to thank for coming up with all these projects," said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.
On the request by Roy for Engkilili to have a waterfront, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said both of them would approach the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg for his approval.
At the function he announced a grant of RM50,000 to the organising committee of the festival this year.
He pledged another grant of RM50,000 to organise next year edition.
