DALAT: The Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) plays a crucial role in advancing development in the Rajang Delta area through an injection of funds totalling RM1.5 billion from the Sarawak government.
According to Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, RADDA will focus on developing all areas within the Rajang Delta including development of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water supply, and electricity supply.
He said this is a structured development initiative by the Sarawak government to benefit the rakyat in rural areas.
"RADDA encompasses all areas in the Rajang Delta. The first thing that needs to be developed is the infrastructure; roads, bridges, electrical supply, and water supply.
“We have already allocated RM1.5 billion to develop this area,” he said while speaking at the Dalat Welfare Complex Inauguration Ceremony on Saturday.
Also present were Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah and her two Deputies, Datuk Rosey Yunus and Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam, Deputy Ministers, Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and other guests.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Premier said the newly built Dalat Welfare Complex will play a role in providing support services to those in need.
He stated that the complex, approved for construction by former Chief Minister, Tun Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in 2014, began construction in 2018 and was completed in 2020.
“Today, we have the new complex that can provide support services to those in need,” he added.
Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also announced good news about the approval of a new road construction that will connect Dalat and Sibu.
He said that the road will eventually shorten the journey from Dalat to Sibu to just one hour.
Earlier, the Sarawak Premier, accompanied by Dato Sri Fatimah and other distinguished guests, performed the symbolic groundbreaking of the Dalat Boutique Hotel project.
The proposed project is located in a development area of 1.958 acres that has been approved by the government to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA).
The hotel will provide facilities including 35 guest rooms, as well as meeting rooms, offices, conference and event hall, banquet hall, and parking spaces.
The construction of this hotel is expected to begin mid-2025, which may lead to the rapid development of Dalat town and surrounding areas, including Oya, Igan, and Mukah town. -UKASnews
