KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas conducted a working visit to the construction site of the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) 2 project, here on Thursday.
This high-impact project commenced on 30 April 2025 and is scheduled for completion by the end of December 2027.
The development of BCCK 2 is a strategic initiative by the Sarawak Government to further uplift Kuching’s position as a leading hub for international conventions and events in the Southeast Asian region.
With a maximum capacity of up to 9,500 visitors, the project is expected to generate significant effects for the tourism, business, and local economic sectors.
During the site visit, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah expressed satisfaction with the current physical progress of the project.
The Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) emphasised that the project reflects the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to develop sustainable, competitive, and globally oriented infrastructure in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Also present were Director of the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), Dr. Cassidy Morris, MIPD Deputy Permanent Secretary, Latiff Coupon, senior officers from MIPD and JKR Sarawak, representatives from the consulting firm, as well as the contractors involved. -UKASnews
