MRCS Miri Strengthens Efforts To Raise Health Awareness Through Blood & Organ Vitality 2.0 Programme

MIRI: Malaysian Red Crescent Sarawak (MRCS) Miri Branch continues to strengthen its role in driving the public health and social welfare agenda through the launch of the Blood & Organ Vitality 2.0 Programme, scheduled to take place on 19 October 2025.

The organisation of the programme was announced by Minister for Transport and MRCS Miri Advisor, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, at an official press conference at MRCS Miri on Tuesday.

In his speech, he emphasised the importance of such platforms in promoting healthy lifestyles and educating the community on blood and organ donation issues.

“MRCS Miri not only plays a role in emergency response, but is one of the organisations at the forefront in championing community health through impactful programmes like this,” he said.

Among the main contents of the programme are a 5 kilometre (km) and 10km charity run, as well as free health awareness sessions conducted by experts in various fields.

Services offered include basic health screening, HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) and scoliosis screening, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) demonstrations, as well as general health counseling.

This programme targets 600 participants, with early registration ending on 18 July 2025, and general registration closing on 3 September 2025.

MRCS Miri also received strong support from various sponsors and strategic partners including Mi Pharmacy, Prime Borneo Clinic Krokop, PERSOPAM, Mobility Matters, and Best Hearing Aid Centre Miri.

Apart from health awareness, this programme also aims to raise funds to support the continued operations of MRCS Miri including the Permyjaya Hemodialysis Centre, community ambulance service, blood and organ donation programme, Wound Care Unit, and the Sunflower Centre for children with special needs.

MRSC Miri also called on more parties and individuals including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), as well as private companies, to come forward to support this programme which not only saves lives, but also strengthens the spirit of togetherness in the community. -UKASnews
