Three Tourism Projects Worth RM27.4 Million Planned In Kabong Constituency

KUCHING: A total of three projects under the tourism and environment sector with an estimated total cost of RM27.4 million have been planned to be implemented in the Kabong constituency area.

Kabong Assemblyman and Chairman of the Tourism and Environment Sector Committee of the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), Dato Mohd Chee Kadir said that the three projects were part of the 11 projects discussed in the BDDA Tourism and Environment Sector Committee Meeting No. 2/2025 which he chaired at the Baitulmakmur II Building, Petra Jaya here, on Thursday.

“The three main projects planned in the Kabong constituency are the upgrading of facilities at Tanjung Kembang Beach at a cost of RM10 million, the proposed construction of a food court and homestay at the same location at an estimated cost of RM15.9 million, and the upgrading of the Seblak River Bank infrastructure amounting to RM1.5 million,” he said.

He added that all the projects are currently at the planning stage (DPR) and are an initiative of the Sarawak Government through BDDA to empower the rural tourism sector in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

Dato Mohd Chee also stressed the importance of cooperation and strong commitment from all implementing agencies involved to ensure that the implementation of the project runs smoothly and according to schedule.

“We want the people to enjoy the benefits as soon as possible. Therefore, I hope that every party involved can prioritise the implementation of this project so that it can benefit the local community immediately and comprehensively,” he said. -UKASnews
