LAWAS: The new Lawas Administrative Office is expected to begin operations this August as part of efforts to enhance the delivery of quality public services in the area.
According to Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the new building, currently in its final phase of construction, will house 16 government departments and agencies under one roof.
“I have made a few suggestions for modifications which may take a bit of time. This building will accommodate 16 government departments and agencies. It is well-equipped with facilities such as a hall, lifts, escalators, and more.
“I hope the building can be completed according to schedule,” he said during a press conference after visiting the project site on Sunday.
He added that once completed, the consolidation of various departments and agencies under one roof would not only provide greater convenience to the public but also enhance interdepartmental collaboration and ensure more efficient and effective service delivery.
The Bukit Sari Assemblyman also emphasised the importance of incorporating new technologies in the office development to support work efficiency and meet the needs of today’s public service.
“I hope that with these facilities, interdepartmental cooperation will improve, and public service delivery will be better and more efficient,” he stressed.
Also present during the site visit were Lawas Member of Parliament, Dato Henry Sum Agong; Limbang Division Resident, Unus Tambi; Lawas District Officer, Ladin Atok; Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Awgku Jinal Abedin Dato Pengiran Jawa; and Limbang Division Engineer, Ir. Mahathir Jokeni. -UKASnews
