KUCHING: The Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, extend their heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all Christians in Sarawak as they observe Good Friday and celebrate Easter.

In their message, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah spoke of the beauty and meaning that Easter holds for the Christian faithful.

It is a time of solemn remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and a celebration of His resurrection, which brings with it the eternal message of love, forgiveness, renewal, and hope.

“As a Muslim, I share in the joy and reverence of this sacred season with my Christian brothers and sisters,” the Sarawak Governor said in a statement.

“Although we may worship in different ways, we are bound by our common humanity and the values that give life its deeper meaning — faith, compassion, selflessness, and above all, hope.”

They reflected on how such moments of spiritual significance offer not only a time to deepen one’s relationship with God, but also an opportunity to reach out across communities — to uplift one another, to comfort the weary, and to affirm the bonds that unite us as one people under the Sarawak sky.

“Easter is a reminder that even after the darkest of nights, there is light. Even in sorrow, there is the promise of joy. It is a powerful symbol of rebirth — a message we all need in these times, regardless of religion.”

Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah expressed their admiration and gratitude for the Christian community’s enduring contributions to the moral, social, and educational fabric of Sarawak, and emphasised the importance of preserving the harmony and mutual respect that Sarawak is so proud of.

“In Sarawak, we do more than tolerate our differences — we embrace them. And in doing so, we find strength. Let us continue to walk together, side by side, with open hearts and shared purpose, as we build a future rooted in peace, unity, and understanding.”

They concluded their message with this sincere wish:
