KUCHING: Sarawak's success in taking over strategic assets such as Bakun, Bintulu Port, Affin Bank and most recently MASWings which was rebranded as AirBorneo, will certainly create a complete ecosystem to attract investments from within and outside the country.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said, the Sarawak Government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is also developing two more strategic assets, namely the Deep Sea Port and the new International Airport in Tanjung Embang with an investment of RM100 billion.

“I am confident that the development of all these assets will have a major impact on efforts to create an ecosystem that is very attractive to domestic and foreign investment because Sarawak's long-term economic planning will not stop in 2030 but will continue beyond 2035 and onwards to 2050.

“I am very confident that with the maturity of all the major assets that are now available, Sarawak will emerge as an economic power in the Asian region that will be enjoyed by future generations, God willing,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025 Message.

Explaining the AirBorneo business model, he stressed that it is not only based on profit but also one of the Sarawak Government's efforts to connect this region with foreign countries.

“The MASWings or AirBorneo business model is not only based on profit but as an infrastructure development because Sarawak is located on an island and is in dire need of air connectivity with other areas in the region,” he stressed.

Previously, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also announced that AirBorneo is committed to offering affordable flight ticket prices to ensure that the people of this region enjoy low-cost services. -UKASnews
